THE CHOIRS IN QUIET PLACES CHOIR FESTIVAL The Choirs in Quiet Places Festival is open to accomplished choirs of all ages and all types. An Audition Tape will be required in order to qualify for the Festival. No further applications are being accepted for the 2006 Festival. We expect the next Festival, in 2008, to follow a similar format. For advance details, please contact us direct. Day One; Saturday Today will be spent in Choir Workshops with our Guest Director, Mike Brewer OBE, of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain. Each choir will perform for Mike, and then enjoy a session of coaching. When your choir is not singing, there will be a choice of activities; you may wish to learn from other choirs by attending the Choir Workshops. There will also be the opportunity to perform at a local venue; or spend some time sightseeing and shopping in Nottingham. The choirs will come together this evening at Newstead Abbey, former home of the poet Lord Byron. Each choir will participate in a Candlelit Promenade Concert at Newstead, which is open to a public audience. Day Two; Sunday This morning will be spent in rehearsal for the Massed Choirs Concert. European Hiking tours for those who know that the best way to see a country is by walking along its paths and byways, through regions not normally visited by tourists. Our hiking tours are aimed at the discerning visitor, staying in First-Class hotels known for their excellent cuisine, and are available throughout Europe and for any size of party. Each hiking tour is custom-designed for each group; we have no scheduled departures. We offer two types of itineraries:- Circular Your group is based in one hotel and takes circular hikes each day, returning to the same hotel at night. This type of itinerary can be formulated as a two- or three-centre trip, with several nights in each hotel, circular hikes each day, and transportation provided between centres. The tour is accompanied by one member of staff, a tour manager/hike leader.Whichever type of tour your group prefers, the daily hikes can be customised to participants' required length and degree of difficulty. Point-to-point Your group hikes from point to point each day, with a change of hotel each night. Luggage is transferred by bag-van, which meets the group each day at lunchtime, giving the opportunity for anyone who is feeling tired to drive on to the hotel. These tours include two members of our staff; a hike leader, who remains with the group throughout their walks, and the tour manager, who takes care of the luggage, makes arrangements for lunch, and liaises with the hotels.
