Conferences, Incentives and Meetings throughout Europe. KRAKOW WEEKEND Suggested Itinerary DAY ONE Travel to Krakow. On arrival, join your private motorcoach and Local Guide for the transfer into the city. En route to your hotel fr check-in, you will see some of the great sights of the city; "Planty", the city's green belt, which replaced the medieval fortifications., the Floriańska Gate, Saint Mary's Church, dating back to 1221, the Collegium Maius, formerly home to the Jagiellonian University, the second oldest university in Central Europe, and the Czartoryski Museum. The rest of the day is at leisure. Dinner will be served in the hotel or at a nearby restaurant this evening. DAY TWO Buffet Breakfast is served in the hotel. Meeting-room facilities are available this morning(theatre-style set up, basic meeting package; catering facilities and specialist equipment can be provided if required, with an additional cost). The afternoon is at leisure for your own interests; or why not join one of our Walking Tours for a special insight to Venice? We can offer:- Wawel Castle and Cathedral The two buildings sit adjacent to each other, and form a place of pilgrimage for the Polish people. Your tour of the Castle features a visit to the Royal Apartments with their beautiful interiors. In the Cathedral, see the shrine to Poland's national heroes, and the belfry of the Sigismund Chapel. The Market Square Dating back to the 13th century, the Square has formed the commercial heart of the city throughout its history.. The tour will be timed to enjoy the Watchman's Warning, played from one of the church towers; and hear the story behind this local tradition. Wander through the Cloth Hall, a reminder of Krakow's role as a trading station on the silk route, and visit the Mariacki Church and the Church of the Franciscans, with its beautiful stained glass. This evening, Dinner will be served in a prestigious local restaurant. DAY THREE Buffet Breakfast is served in the hotel. Join one of our sightseeing tours this morning; we offer:- Wieliczka One of the World Heritage sites of UNESCO, the salt mines of Wieliczka have been an important part of the local economy for 1000 years. The mines now contain immense chambers decorated with stalactites and salt pillars, many flights os stairs and galleries and, most importantly, a complex of twenty chapels, decorated with salt sculptures and salt-crystal chandeliers. Auschwitz A grim but important experience. Approximately 1.5 million people, mostly Jews, were murdered in the concentration camps of Auschwitz and Birkenau. What remains of the complex can be visited as a sobering reminder of the atrocities. Not recommended for children. Time at leisure for lunch, before rejoining your private bus for the transfer to Krakow Airport. |
